Our team has been very fortunate to have had excellent mentorship over the years. This has not gone unnoticed by the FIRST community, as two of our mentors were selected for the Woodie Flowers Finalist Award (WFFA).

The spirit of the WFFA is described by FIRST as –

“This award recognizes an individual who has done an outstanding job of motivation through communication while also challenging the students to be clear and succinct in their communications.”

To be selected for this award, the students have to nominate one mentor by writing and submitting an essay explaining why they feel that their mentor should be selected. The judges at a regional competition then use these essays to select one mentor from the nominations of potentially 60+ teams.
